By design, this sports program is at very little cost to the students and parents. The club holds different fund raisers to support the program and has purchased 5 Remington 1100 Trap Shotguns for use by the students who do not have a shotgun. The club also provides ammunition and targets.
Students are expected to successfully complete a 10 hour NRA Shotgun Course, attend practices, and keep school grades at an acceptable level to participate in the program. Practices are weekly throughout spring, summer, and fall.
The SCTP is designed to instill in young people a set of personal values and character traits that teaches fair play, compassionate understanding, individual responsibility, sportsmanship, self-discipline, and personal commmitment - qualities necessary to become successful and contributing members of society.
Competition is a part of the SCTP, but it is not the program's underlying principle. The "win at all cost" philosophy has no place in the SCTP. Striving to win while playing by the rules does. It is the DUTY of everyone involoved in the SCTP - coaches, parents, and participants - to be role models for SCTP team members to emulate by upholding high moral and ethical standards of personal conduct.
We have four volunteer cerfitifed instructor/coaches.
If you would like to make a donation to support our SCTP students you may do so by mailing it to:
Hancock County Gun Club
P.O. Box 222
Carthage, IL 62321
Please make payable to Hancock County Gun Club and specify it for SCTP.
Thank you.

I didn't know the trap team had a blog....I'm the parent of one of the members. Are you planning on posting more pictures and team results?
